One of my imaginary characters has a beard. I normally don't like beards, but his looks good, so I decided to let him keep it. The thing is, I don't know how to call that particular type of beard; it is faintly reminiscent of  this fellow's. I don't know why I'm even interested in this, but I'm running with whatever makes me feel good these days, even if it's research on weird facial hairdos.

Anyway, while googling away, I come across this entry. "My" beard isn't among those featured, but the post reminded me that Hugh Jackman is way hot (and actually looks better with a beard than clean-shaven - ETA: Same goes for Kevin Smith, the guy who played Ares in Xena, Warrior Princess).

That's popularly, but erroneously, called a goatee. It's properly called a Van Dyke. A proper goatee is what is seen in the later pictures of Wm Shakespeare - a tuft of hair on the center of the lower lip, descending to the point of the chin, giving the appearance of a billy goat's beard.

Hehe, live and learn :) I still haven't found the correct term for the type of beard I'm thinking of, though. It most resembles a circle beard without the soul patch. http://www.ftmguide.org/facialhair.html
