Today is my last day at the ITB Berlin, the world's largest travel trade show, where I've been working since Wednesday. It's been a week of hearing, speaking, and reading nothing but German, and I feel very odd now. Disconnected. Floating. Out of touch. I was going to beta a Harry/Draco story for my friend BadKatPat, but I couldn't concentrate on anything fanfiction-related. *PANIC*

Oh God! I didn`t know that! I almost went to the ITB on Thursday, as my boy-friend was about to write an article about it, but then his boss wanted to go there himself! I might have seen you then! But then we just went to the press audition of "Beauty and the Beast" at the Potsdamer Platz Theatre Thursday night!

Hehe :)

I was working for the Media Center, proofreading and layouting the ITB Daily in German and English. This was my 21st ITB. Time flies!

I`ve never been there and I wasn`t all that sad that we didn`t have to go there. But now I am! We`d probably would have gone to the Media Center first to get the required information! But then again, at least the musical was nice. ;-)

Are you flying back to Florida immediately afterwards?

I'll be on the plane back to the States tomorrow (Sunday) morning, 8:40 a.m. If all goes well, I'll be home around 9 p.m. YAY!

Do you visit Germany on a regular basis?

I'm typically in Berlin for the ITB in March, which is a work trip. I normally go back around the end of September for vacation, but this year there will be no second visit to Berlin because I want to go see my uncle and his family in Markt Einersheim.

Cool! Markt Einersheim is not totally close to where I live (Frankfurt), but still kind of nearby. If you find that you have too much free time :-), we could try to meet.

So you originally come from Berlin?

I was born in Hamburg but grew up in Berlin. Wonderful city to visit! I don't think I'd want to live there again any time soon, though.

I'm still fantasizing about attending Sectus. Too bad London is so far away - and travelling so expensive. *sighs*

Hamburg is lovely. I've been to Berlin twice after the reunification, but that was ages ago.

I'm going to Sectus! I'm already totally excited about the prospect of meeting all those crazy and beloved fans. :-)

I'm so jealous! I wish I could go! *sniffles*

I participated in the Landmark Education leadership course in the mid-90s, so I had to travel back and forth between Berlin and Frankfurt on a weekly basis for a year. Wish I had that kind of money now. LOL. I liked Frankfurt, though. Should I ever move back to Germany, I would definitely look at Frankfurt as a possible destination.

Travelling between Frankfurt and Berlin on a a weekly basis for a year? *ogles* Wow! That's a lot of money indeed. I wish that travelling wasn't so expensive... I'd travel more. But these days, I try to travel only when it's necessary. The best travels are those where I can combine a business trip with visiting a friend. But as my business is still small, so are my travels.

Am I too curious when I ask why you've moved to the U.S.?

It was expensive and sometimes I wish I had rather put the money in a savings account, but in the end being with empowered people and creating an interesting community project was worth it. Priceless! ;)

I moved to the States because of my husband, whom I met in an online RPG called Gemstone (http://www.play.net/gs4/new.asp). You can't test a relationship when you're just visiting, so one of us had to move. Since he has children here and doesn't speak German, it was clear who would do the moving. I didn't mind because I was at a dead end in Berlin. Right now, I'm at a dead end here. LOL.

"Dead end" as in "not knowing what to do for a living that give you money and makes you happy"?

I think it's a very courageous step to move to another country because of love. I agree with you on the visiting - there comes a time when visiting isn't enough any longer.

Yep. That kind of dead end. :(
